Enjoying Life

Deuteronomy 6:1 – “These are the commands, decrees and laws the LORD your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to posess, so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the LORD your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy a long life”
There are a couple of striking things in these verses. The first is that our life and the quality of our life is connected to how we live. Following God impacts us and also generations to follow so we want to guard against being nonchalant when it comes to the words of God.
I also picked up on the phrase, ”enjoy a long life”. It fascinates me that God is interested in us having a long life here. Sometimes we may have the notion that this life doesn’t matter and all that matters is heaven some day! We may think we’re just enduring this blip in time until we can get to something really cool. God wants us to enjoy a long life on earth so we don’t need to save all the fun and joy for heaven! We can have happiness right here on earth as well.
Enjoy your life realizing this happens as we follow God and keep to His ways!
